Pour this and you get that warm, plush Bordeaux hug. Think ripe plum and dark berries, a whisper of cedar, tannins so soft they just glide. It's a right-bank Saint-Émilion, which is the friendly, generous side of Bordeaux: rounder, riper, less of the stern stuff. Grilling something tonight or just want a proper red without a sommelier lecture? This is your grab.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Deep ruby in the glass. The nose leads with ripe red and dark fruit, plum and a touch of blackberry, then a lick of cedar and fine oak underneath. On the palate it's round and supple, the kind of red that fills your mouth without any sharp edges. The tannins are there giving it shape and grip, but they're polished, not grippy. It finishes long and warm, fruit hanging around well after the sip. Easygoing but it's got real backbone.

Where it's from

Saint-Émilion sits on Bordeaux's right bank, the side of the river where Merlot rules and the wines come out rounder and riper. The name on the bottle, Cruse, goes back to 1819, when Herman Cruse set up shop in Bordeaux and grew it into one of the city's big wine-trading houses on the old Chartrons quay. Two centuries later that name still means classic, dependable Bordeaux. This is the easy-to-love version of it.
