They took their classic VSOP, a blend of eaux-de-vie aged at least four years in French oak, then gave it a second nap in casks that used to hold Kentucky bourbon. That extra step is also why the label reads 'spirit drink' rather than 'cognac': cognac rules say it must age only in French oak, so the bourbon finish technically writes it out of the club.
