They've been distilling here since 1879, when a local named Lars Olsson Smith cracked a clever trick, distilling the spirit a near-infinite number of times instead of the usual three or four, to strip it crystal clean. They still use hardy winter wheat grown in the fields around town and water pulled from wells over 140 metres deep, filtered through Swedish bedrock for thousands of years.
