B&G Reserve Cab Sauv 75cl
Picture a glass of deep ruby red, a big hit of ripe blackcurrant, and tannins so smooth they basically hug you. This is the bottle you open when there's a plate of nyama choma in front of you, or when it's just you and a good evening that deserves something proper. It's dry, it's grown-up, but it never makes you work for it. Pour it, swirl it, and you're sorted.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

First sniff is all dark fruit. Think ripe blackcurrant and blackberry, with a warm waft of toast and spice once you give it a swirl. On the tongue it's round and velvety, the tannins soft rather than grippy, so nothing dries your mouth out. The finish lingers with a lick of vanilla and liquorice from its time in oak. Dry, balanced, full of flavour without being heavy-handed.

Where it's from

Barton & Guestier is the oldest wine house in Bordeaux, started back in 1725 by Thomas Barton, an Irishman who fell for French wine and never looked back. For this Cab they head south to the Languedoc, pulling grapes from the cooler clay and limestone around Limoux and the warmer gravels of the Gard. Two terroirs in one bottle, which is why it tastes both fresh and ripe at the same time.

What is the price of B&G Reserve Cab Sauv 75cl?

B&G Reserve Cab Sauv 75cl is KSh 2,219 at Oaks & Corks. Order online for fast delivery across Nairobi, usually within the hour, or next day countrywide.

What does B&G Réserve Cabernet Sauvignon 75cl taste like?

Ripe blackcurrant and dark berries up front, with toasty, spicy notes and a smooth finish of vanilla and liquorice. It's dry, round and velvety, with soft tannins that go down easy.

What is the ABV of B&G Réserve Cabernet Sauvignon?

It's 13.5% ABV, a classic strength for a French red.

How do I serve it?

Slightly cool, around 16 to 18°C, in a big red wine glass. A short chill in the fridge helps if your room is warm. No decanting needed.

What food pairs with it?

It loves grilled red meat, so nyama choma or a steak is perfect. Also great with rich pasta, stews, spicy dishes and sharp cheese.

Where is it from?

France. The grapes are grown in the Languedoc (IGP Pays d'Oc), made by Barton & Guestier, the oldest wine house in Bordeaux, founded in 1725.

Is it sweet or dry?

Fully dry. There's ripe fruit flavour, but no sugar sweetness, so it's a true dry red.
