The nose is floral and lively, all lemon zest and a whisper of lavender before the juniper says hello. There's even a faint nutty edge underneath. It finishes dry and clean, with that pine-y juniper bitterness arriving right at the end like a proper London Dry should.

This one comes out of northern France, up in Petersbach near the German border, edging into Alsace wine country. The makers nicknamed it 'The Gentleman's Gin', which is a bit cheeky, but it earns it: nine natural botanicals (juniper, coriander, ginger, lemon and orange peel, angelica root, lavender, fennel and star anise) distilled the old-fashioned way in a copper still. The French built it, the British style guided it, and the result is a gin with a foot on each side of the Channel.
