Bols Blue Curacao Liqueur 700ml
You know the colour. That impossibly bright, lagoon-blue that makes everyone at the table go "ooh, what's that?" Bols Blue Curacao is your shortcut to drinks that look like a holiday. It tastes of sweet orange with a gentle bitter edge, it pours electric blue, and it turns a plain glass into a whole vibe. Pour it into a Blue Lagoon for the squad, splash it over soda for a chilled night in, and let it do the heavy lifting while you take the credit.
First thing, it smells like orange. Clean, zesty, a little floral, like orange blossom drifting off the glass. Then the sip lands sweet and syrupy with that candied-orange-peel flavour up front, backed by a faint bitter twist from the Curacao orange. It is not complicated and it does not pretend to be. Think bright, sweet, citrusy and smooth, with just enough bitter-orange grip to stop it being one-note. At 21% it is soft and easy, more sweet treat than slap.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it comes from
This is Amsterdam history in a bottle. Lucas Bols started trading in 1575, making it one of the oldest spirits names on earth, and during the Dutch Golden Age its ships hauled back dried orange peels from the Caribbean island of Curacao. Those peels, from a bitter little orange called laraha, are still the soul of this liqueur. Fun bit: the spirit itself comes out colourless. That famous electric blue is added on purpose, and Bols Blue is the original and the world's best-selling Blue Curacao. Back in the early 1900s they even sold it as Creme de Ciel, "cream of the sky."

It is made by Lucas Bols in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, a distilling house dating back to 1575. The orange peels behind the flavour come from the Caribbean island of Curacao.
