You know that rice that fills the whole kitchen with scent the second the lid comes off? This is that. CIL Pure Mwea Pishori is slender, fragrant, basmati-style Kenyan rice that cooks up light and fluffy instead of sticky and clumped. Pilau on a Sunday, biryani when you're showing off, or just a plate next to a good stew on a Tuesday. The 2kg pack means you don't run out mid-week.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Raw, it's a slim, polished long grain with a soft natural perfume. Cook it and that aroma blooms, gently nutty and a little sweet, the kind of smell that makes everyone wander into the kitchen asking what's ready. The texture is the real win: separate, fluffy grains that hold their shape, so your pilau looks like pilau and not porridge. 100% pure pishori, no blending with cheaper rice, so what you taste is the real thing.

Where it's from

Pishori is Kenya's homegrown answer to basmati, grown in the watery paddies of Mwea in Kirinyaga County, fed by the Thiba River. The name traces back to Peshawar, where the ancestor grain came from, but decades in Mwea's rich soil and irrigation have given it its own Kenyan identity. CIL is the rice arm of Capwell Industries, and they keep this one single-origin and unblended, which is exactly why it smells and cooks the way it does.
