Daawat Traditional Basmati Rice 2Kg
Picture the lid coming off the pot and that warm, almost floral smell filling the kitchen. That's good basmati doing its thing. Daawat Traditional gives you long, slender grains that cook up fluffy and separate, never a sticky clump. This is the rice you want underneath a proper biryani or pilau, and it makes a plain bowl of steamed rice feel like you actually tried. Grab the 2kg, sorted for the week.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

The aroma is the headline. Soft, subtly floral, with a sweet nutty edge that lifts the moment the rice hits hot water. The grains are extra long and slender, and they stretch as they cook, staying separate and fluffy with a gentle bite rather than turning mushy. Flavour is clean and lightly buttery, the kind of mild backdrop that lets your masala, ghee or stew do the talking. No gluten, fully vegan, just rice.

Where it's from

Daawat is made by LT Foods, one of India's big basmati names, shipping to more than 80 countries. The paddy comes from the fertile foothills of the Himalayas, the only place real basmati grows. The clever bit is the ageing: the grain rests in temperature and moisture controlled silos before milling, which is what deepens that aroma and gives you the long, non-sticky cook. Older rice, better rice.

What is the price of Daawat Traditional Basmati Rice 2Kg?

Daawat Traditional Basmati Rice 2Kg is KSh 625 at Oaks & Corks. Order online for fast delivery across Nairobi, usually within the hour, or next day countrywide.

What is Daawat Traditional Basmati Rice 2kg?

It's a premium Indian long-grain basmati from Daawat, naturally aged in silos before milling. You get extra long, slender white grains that cook up fluffy and separate, in a 2kg pack.

What does it taste like?

Clean and lightly buttery with a soft, subtly floral and nutty aroma. The flavour is mild on purpose, so it carries your biryani, curry or stew rather than competing with it.

What is the ABV?

None. This is rice, not a drink, so there's no alcohol in it. We just deliver it alongside the bottles.

How do I cook it?

Rinse, soak for 20 to 30 minutes, then simmer about 1 part rice to 1.5 parts water for 12 to 15 minutes. Rest covered, then fluff with a fork for long, separate grains.

What pairs with it?

Biryani, pilau, butter chicken, daal, or just steamed next to a nyama choma spread. Anything saucy or spiced loves a fluffy basmati under it.

Is it gluten-free and vegan?

Yes. It's plain basmati rice, naturally gluten-free and vegan, with nothing added.

Where is it from?

India. The basmati is grown in the Himalayan foothills and made by LT Foods under the Daawat brand.
