Durbanville Hills Sauvignon Blanc 75cl
Excellent★★★★
Pour this cold and it practically wakes you up. Sharp lime, a little blackcurrant, a flash of pink guava, then a clean dry finish that leaves your mouth watering for the next sip. It's bright, zesty and zero fuss. Grab it when you want a white with some bite, fish on the grill, or just a Friday that needs sorting. We'll have it at your door fast, ice not included but highly recommended.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Stick your nose in and you get a rush of zesty lime first, then yellow fruit, blackcurrant, a hit of gooseberry and ripe guava. There's even a green, just-cut note in there (the winery calls it asparagus, you'll read it as fresh and grassy). On the tongue it's all lime and pink guava that hang around, then a mouthwatering snap of acidity wipes the slate clean. Bone dry, no sweetness hiding anywhere, just zing.

Where it's from

This comes from Durbanville, a cool little pocket of the Western Cape just 20 minutes from Cape Town and barely 10km from the cold Atlantic. That ocean matters. A south-easterly wind the locals call the Cape Doctor blows in off the sea and keeps the slopes cool, so the grapes ripen slowly and hold onto all that bright acidity. The winery itself is a team effort, a handful of neighbouring family farms who pooled their vineyards in the late 1990s to show off what their corner of the Cape can do. Turns out it does Sauvignon Blanc very well.
