Here's the thing nobody tells you: three-quarters of your gin and tonic is the tonic. Cheap out there and you've drowned a lovely gin in fizzy sugar water. This is the fix. Fever-Tree pours crystal clear with soft, fine bubbles and a clean bittersweet snap that lifts your gin instead of burying it. Pour one over ice tonight and you'll taste exactly why bartenders the world over keep this on the rail.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

On the nose it's bright and citrusy, a little zesty, nothing harsh. The sip is clean and gently sparkling, with a soft bittersweet hum from real quinine that lingers just long enough to be interesting. There's a delicate orange-peel brightness running underneath, balanced so it's never cloying and never mouth-puckering. Because there are no artificial sweeteners, the finish stays crisp and dry rather than syrupy. It's mixer first, so it makes your spirit the star and quietly does the heavy lifting.

Where it's from

Two Brits, Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow, got fed up that you could buy a beautiful gin and then ruin it with chemical-tasting tonic. So in the mid-2000s they went hunting for the real thing, all the way to the Democratic Republic of Congo, to source natural quinine from original cinchona trees. Fun bit: cinchona was nicknamed the 'fever tree' because its bark gave us quinine, the original malaria cure. They blend that quinine with bitter orange oils from Mexico and spring water, no artificial sweeteners, colours or preservatives. That obsession turned Fever-Tree into the tonic bartenders actually reach for.

Quick questions

What is the price of Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water 200ml?

Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water 200ml is KSh 210 at Oaks & Corks. Order online for delivery in 30 minutes for most areas in Nairobi, or next day countrywide.

What does Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water 200ml taste like?

Clean, crisp and lightly fizzy with a gentle bittersweet quinine note and a delicate citrus brightness. It's balanced and dry rather than sugary, which is exactly why it makes a gin shine.

What is the ABV of Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water?

Zero. It's a non-alcoholic mixer, so it's the tonic, not the spirit. Add your own gin or vodka, or just enjoy it solo over ice.

How do I serve it?

Ice cold. Fill a glass with plenty of ice, pour one part gin to about three parts tonic, add a lime or grapefruit twist, and open the bottle just before pouring to keep the bubbles.

What pairs with it?

Gin is the classic match, but it's great with vodka, fino sherry or white port too. As a drink on its own it cuts beautifully through salty snacks or a plate of nyama choma.

Where is it from?

Fever-Tree is a British brand founded by Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow, who source the natural quinine from cinchona trees in the Democratic Republic of Congo and bitter orange oils from Mexico.

Does it have artificial sweeteners or preservatives?

No. It's made with spring water, sugar, citric acid and natural flavourings including real quinine, with no artificial sweeteners, colours or preservatives.
