F&L Dry Lemon 200ml
Exceptional★★★★★
You know that moment when ordinary lemonade is just too sweet and a bit boring? This is the fix. Fitch & Leedes Dry Lemon is sharp, properly citrusy and bone-dry, with fine little bubbles that wake the whole drink up. Splash it over a gin and tonic, a vodka, a whisky, or just pour it solo over ice on a hot Nairobi afternoon. Grown-up fizz, no apology.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

First thing you get is real lemon. Not the syrupy candy kind, the proper zesty squeeze-of-the-fruit kind, made with actual lemon juice. It pours cloudy and pale with lively, fine bubbles. The sip is tangy and bright up front, then it pulls back into a clean, gently bitter, dry finish that leaves your mouth fresh instead of sugary. Think lemonade's cooler, sharper cousin who reads the room.

Where it's from

It's made by Chill Beverages, out in Stellenbosch in South Africa's Cape winelands, the same crew behind the whole Fitch & Leedes mixer range. The name itself is a fun bit of trivia: Ralph Fitch and William Leedes were two London merchants who set sail back in 1583 carrying a royal letter to the courts of the East. The brand borrows their adventuring spirit and pours it into a can of seriously good mixer.

What does Fitch & Leedes Dry Lemon 200ml taste like?

Sharp, real-lemon citrus with fine lively bubbles and a clean, gently bitter, dry finish. It's noticeably less sweet than regular lemonade, so it tastes more grown-up and refreshing.

What is the ABV of Fitch & Leedes Dry Lemon?

None. It's a non-alcoholic mixer, zero alcohol. The kick comes from whatever spirit you pour it over.

How do I serve it?

Ice cold over a tall glass of ice. Brilliant as a mixer for gin, vodka or whisky, or just on its own with a lemon wedge.

What pairs with it?

Anything salty, grilled or fried. Think nyama choma, fish and chips, spicy wings or a bowl of salted nuts. It cuts through rich food nicely.

South Africa. It's made by Chill Beverages in Stellenbosch and comes in a handy 200ml can.

What's the difference between dry lemon and lemonade?

Dry lemon is drier and a touch bitter, built around real lemon with way less sugar, so it's a cleaner mixer. Lemonade is sweeter and softer. If you find lemonade cloying, this is your drink.
