Flagstone Poetry Chardonnay 2019 75cl
Pour this when you want something bright and zingy that won't weigh the night down. It's a dry, unwooded-style Chardonnay, so forget that big buttery oak thing some Chardonnays do. This one is all citrus and orchard fruit, light on its feet, and dangerously easy to keep sipping. Chill it hard, crack it open, and let it carry a warm Nairobi evening or a casual dinner with mates.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

First sniff is zesty citrus, lime and grapefruit, with a softer note of dried peach and apricot sitting behind it. On the palate it follows through: tangy lime, a squeeze of grapefruit, then that gentle stone-fruit sweetness rounding things off. The acidity keeps it lively and clean, and the finish lingers longer than you'd expect from something this light. No oak getting in the way, just pure fruit and freshness.

Where it's from

Flagstone was started in 1998 by Bruce Jack, a winemaker who studied English literature in Scotland before chasing wine in the Cape. His cellar sits in an old dynamite factory in Somerset West, originally built back in Cecil Rhodes' day, where the deep, cool rooms let the wines mature at their own pace. The Poetry range is Flagstone's friendly, everyday tier, made to be enjoyed rather than overthought. Fitting name for a wine this easy to like.
