You know that red that just works ? This is it. Deep, dark and plummy, soft as anything, dry without being serious about it. Pour it next to a plate of nyama choma, sink into the couch, and let the night slow down. It's the bottle you grab when you want something proper Argentine without thinking too hard about the price.
First sniff is all ripe dark fruit. Think plum and blackberry, a little crushed cherry, with a quiet warm spice humming underneath. The sip is rounded and smooth, juicy through the middle with soft, gentle tannins (that's the grippy bit in big reds, and here it's been dialled right down). It finishes dry and clean, no sugar, no fuss. Easy company, but with enough dark-fruit depth to keep you interested.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
This comes out of Mendoza, the high-altitude heart of Argentine wine, from the Zuccardi family. Fuzion is their everyday range, the one that put serious Mendoza fruit into a bottle anyone could afford and turned into a bit of a cult value buy around the world. It's a bivarietal blend, mostly Tempranillo (the Spanish classic) leaning on Malbec (Argentina's signature grape) for that plush dark-fruit weight. Hand-harvested, fermented in steel tanks with a week on the skins for colour and flavour. Honest, sunny, no airs.
