Gato Negro Cabernet Merlot 1.5L
Pour this and you get a glass full of ripe blackcurrant and plum, soft and dry, nothing sharp or fussy getting in the way. It's the bottle you open without overthinking, the one that just works whether it's grilled meat with the crew or a quiet Tuesday on the couch. And it's the big 1.5L, so one bottle covers the whole table. Cab and Merlot doing the friendly thing together. Say the word and we'll have it at your door, any hour.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Stick your nose in and it's stewed dark berries, a little cherry, a whisper of cassis (that's blackcurrant, for the rest of us). First sip is ripe blackberry and plum, smooth and rounded, with a gentle peppery spice ghosting underneath. The tannins (the grippy, mouth-drying part of red wine) are soft here, so it slides down easy instead of puckering you up. Dry, fruit-forward, no rough edges. Easy company.

Where it's from

Gato Negro means 'black cat' in Spanish, and the brand leans into it as a lucky charm rather than bad luck. It's made by Viña San Pedro, one of Chile's oldest wineries, going all the way back to 1865 down in the Curicó Valley. The fruit comes from Chile's Central Valley, where warm sunny days and cool nights rolling off the Pacific keep the grapes ripe but fresh. Gato Negro is their big, well-travelled label, poured in homes all over the world.
