First whiff is gentle and sweet: vanilla, honey, soft caramel, a little toasted oak. On the tongue it's silky and round, more dessert than dare. You get creamy caramel and vanilla, a flash of ripe banana, brown sugar, then a low hum of cinnamon and charred oak. The finish is warm and tidy, a touch of citrus spice, no harsh sting. It comes out of Lynchburg, Tennessee, the same Jack Daniel's distillery that's been running since 1866. Here's the cool bit: Tennessee whiskey gets filtered through sugar maple charcoal before it goes into the barrel, the famous Lincoln County Process. Gentleman Jack does it twice. Once before aging, and again after years in new American oak, just before bottling. That second pass is what makes it the only double-mellowed whiskey in the lineup, and exactly why it drinks so silky.
