Gilbey's goes back to two brothers, Walter and Alfred Gilbey, who came home from the Crimean War in 1857 and started a London wine business in Soho. It took off, and by the early 1870s they'd set up a gin distillery in Camden Town. That London dry recipe has been a classic ever since and stayed a favourite around the world, Kenya very much included. England through and through, juniper-first the way London dry should be.
