Glenlivet 21 Year Old 700ml
Pour this and your evening just got serious. The Glenlivet Archive 21 is the bottle you crack when you want something deep and grown-up: dried fruit, candied orange, toffee and a warm hum of spice that lingers long after the sip. Twenty-one years in oak buys you that silk, that patience, that oh-okay-this-is-good moment on the first nose. Save it for the nights that deserve it, and let it sit in the glass a minute before you dive in.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Deep gold in the glass, and the nose pulls you in straight away: caramelised pears, juicy sultanas and a dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg, like a fruitcake fresh out the oven. On the palate it's rich but never heavy: dried apricot, candied orange, toffee and dark chocolate, with chocolate-coated ginger giving it a little kick. The finish is long, warming and gently sweet, with smooth oak and a soft spice that fades slow. At 43% it carries real weight without ever burning. This is sipping whisky, full stop.

Where it's from

This comes from The Glenlivet, up in the Livet Valley in Speyside, Scotland. Founder George Smith made his name as the man who took out the area's first legal distilling licence back in 1824, when most of his neighbours were still running stills in secret. The Archive 21 is the patient end of the range: small batches where every cask is nosed and approved by hand before it makes the cut, then married from first-fill Oloroso Sherry, Tronçais oak Cognac and Colheita vintage Port casks. That cask trio is exactly where all the dried fruit and toffee depth comes from.
