Grahams 10 Years Tawny Port 75cl
Picture the bit of the evening when dinner's done and nobody wants it to end. That's this. A small glass of Graham's 10 Year Old Tawny, lightly chilled, and suddenly you're getting walnuts, warm honey and butterscotch in one smooth, mellow sip. It's sweet but never sticky, rich but easy, and it makes a wedge of blue cheese or a bar of dark chocolate feel like an event. Late night, friends still around, one bottle that quietly steals the show.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Golden amber in the glass with a coppery glint. The nose is all toasted nuts, honey and dried figs, that cosy roasted smell that pulls you in. Sip it and you get dried fruit and raisin up front, then walnut, caramel and butterscotch rolling through, with a little warm spice on the edge. Ten years in oak has sanded off every rough corner, so it lands silky and mellow and just keeps going. Long, gentle finish that makes you reach for the next sip.

Where it's from

Graham's is one of the great names of the Douro Valley in northern Portugal, started by two Scottish brothers back in 1820 and run today by the Symington family. The grapes grow on steep terraced vineyards up the Douro, much of it from Graham's flagship Quinta dos Malvedos estate. After harvest the wines head to the lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia, across the river from Porto, where they sit in seasoned oak casks for around ten years. That slow, gentle ageing is what turns deep ruby wine into this nutty, amber, butterscotch-laced beauty.
