The Process
Hendrick’s Gin was launched by William Grant & Sons at a time when gin wasn’t the diverse, thriving category it is today. A clear callback to gin’s forbears, the apothecary style bottle suggests comparison to Genevers and a time when gin was a medicine. The Edwardian era advertising campaign has helped make the brand a stalwart both in bars and in homes. Process-wise the gin is distilled using a Carter-head still. No longer made, they were built with gin in mind. Botanicals are placed in a copper basket, and the vapor passes through them. It’s a very specific kind of “gin basket” designed by the Carter Brothers.
Hendrick’s wondrous botanical signature consists of flowers, roots, fruits, and seeds from the world over. They function to complement and set the stage for their delicious duet of infusions: rose petal and cucumber.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh and inviting, with bright juniper, soft florals and a gentle lift of cucumber. Hints of citrus peel and subtle spice sit underneath.
Palate: Smooth and rounded, with classic juniper at the core, followed by herbal, floral and lightly spiced botanical notes. The rose adds elegance while the cucumber brings cool freshness and balance.
Finish: Clean, fragrant and crisp, with lingering floral tones and a refreshing cucumber lift.
Serving Suggestion
Hendrick’s is famously served with tonic and cucumber rather than the more common lime or lemon garnish. That serve highlights the spirit’s unusual signature and lets the floral and refreshing notes shine. It also works beautifully in martinis, gin fizzes and other premium gin cocktails.
Accolades
Hendrick’s is strongly associated with award-winning craftsmanship, and its creator has received notable industry recognition. Hendrick’s official brand materials describe Lesley Gracie as an award-winning Master Distiller, and Hendrick’s notes that she was named Gin Distiller of the Year by the World Gin Awards in 2018. More recently, William Grant & Sons announced that Gracie received the Outstanding Contribution to Scottish Gin Award 2025.
