Maison Hennessy has been making cognac in the town of Cognac, France for over 250 years. This V.S.O.P, also called Privilège, blends around 60 different eaux-de-vie (the clear grape spirits that become cognac), made from Ugni Blanc grapes across the Borderies, Fins Bois, Grande and Petite Champagne crus and aged up to fifteen years in French oak. Fun bit: the V.S.O.P style traces back to 1817, when the future King George IV asked Hennessy for a 'Very Superior Old Pale' cognac. The name stuck for the whole category.
