Hopsmith Kenyan Coffee Milk Stout - 500ml
Picture a cold one that drinks like dessert and a flat white had a baby. This is your late-night, post-nyama-choma pour, the beer you nurse on the couch when you want something rich and a little indulgent without going hard. It's dark, it's creamy, it tastes of proper Kenyan coffee, and at 5% it won't flatten you. Pure chill-mode fuel.
Pour it and you get a deep, near-black body under a creamy tan head that sticks around. The nose is straight-up fresh Kenyan coffee with a chocolate edge, like walking past a roastery. First sip is rich roasted coffee and dark cocoa, then the milk-sugar (lactose) rolls in and softens everything into a smooth, velvety, faintly sweet finish. Barely any bitter bite (just 20 IBU), gentle fizz, medium-bodied. It coats the tongue without feeling heavy.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
Hopsmith started as a UK beer brand, then in 2019 it found a second home in Nairobi when a few people who grew up in Kenya decided the country deserved proper craft beer. They've been one of the pioneers of the local scene ever since. This stout is their love letter to Kenyan coffee culture, brewing the beans the country is world-famous for straight into the beer. Local coffee, local pride, in a glass.
