KO Classic Gin 750ml
Pour this over ice, top it with tonic, and you've basically got Nairobi in a glass. KO Classic is juniper-forward and citrus-bright, with a quiet warmth on the finish that keeps you coming back for the next sip. It's the gin you reach for on a Friday that became the gin you keep on the shelf all week. Easy company, no fuss, always good.
First thing you get is that classic gin hit of juniper, piney and clean. Then the citrus rolls in, zesty and bright like fresh lime peel, which is what makes it so good with tonic. Underneath there's something softer and a little floral (that's the handpicked rose talking) plus a gentle herby lift from lemongrass. It finishes with a faint warm spice, smooth rather than sharp. Nothing harsh, nothing trying too hard.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
Kenyan Originals started up in 2018 and KO Classic was one of the first gins actually distilled in Kenya. It's made in small batches at their craft room in Baba Ndogo, Nairobi, and the recipe runs on a proper safari of local botanicals: roses handpicked from the foothills of Mount Kenya, licorice root from Malindi, lemongrass from Kabati and bay leaves from Kinangop. Eleven ingredients in all, distilled and tweaked by nose and taste until it's right. Homegrown, properly.
