KWV Cruxland Gin 750ml
Pour this and you get juniper up front, then something earthier underneath that you can't quite name. That's the rare Kalahari truffle doing its thing. It's bold, a touch wild, and it does not whisper. If your usual gin feels a bit polite, Cruxland is the one that actually makes you pause mid-sip and go "oh, that's different." Splash it over ice with good tonic and it carries a whole evening.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Crystal clear in the glass. The nose leads with proper pine-fresh juniper, a cool hit of menthol and warm spice underneath. On the palate it's confident and a little brash, lemon brightness over coriander, cardamom and aniseed, with a soft sweetness from rooibos and honeybush rounding it out. The truffle reads more as an earthy, savoury hum than a flavour you'd pick out blind. It finishes smooth and dry with a peppery kick that hangs around.

Where it's from

This is KWV, the legendary winemakers out of Paarl in South Africa's Western Cape, so it makes sense the base isn't grain but 100% grape spirit. That gives it a softer, rounder body than your typical London Dry. They re-distill it with nine Southern African botanicals, including rooibos and honeybush, then infuse the rare Kalahari truffle that gives the gin its name and its earthy soul. A genuinely local-to-the-Cape spirit, not just another international recipe in a fancy bottle.

What does KWV Cruxland Gin 750ml taste like?

Bold and earthy. Pine-fresh juniper and bright lemon up front, warm cardamom, coriander and aniseed in the middle, with a soft rooibos sweetness and a savoury truffle hum underneath. Dry, peppery finish.

What is the ABV of KWV Cruxland Gin?

It's 43% ABV, so a touch stronger than a standard 40% gin. That extra punch is exactly why it holds up so well in tonics and big cocktails.

Cold, over loads of ice, with a quality tonic (elderflower is lovely) and a light lemon twist. It's also a great base for a Negroni or Tom Collins.

In Paarl, South Africa, by the famous KWV. It's built on grape spirit rather than grain, which is the winemaker's signature.
