Leleshwa Shiraz 75cl
Pour this and you get dark fruit and a little black-pepper warmth, the kind of red that makes a quiet night feel like an occasion. It's medium-to-full bodied, smooth, with just enough grip to stand up to food. And here's the kicker: it's grown right here, up in Naivasha. A Kenyan Shiraz that genuinely holds its own. Crack it open for nyama choma, a slow dinner, or a Tuesday that needs upgrading.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

First sniff is all blackberry and ripe plum, with a twist of pepper and warm spice behind it. On the tongue it's juicy and generous, dark fruit up front, then those soft, well-knit tannins (that gentle dry grip on your gums) keeping it tidy. The finish is smooth and easy, no harsh edges. Comfortable rather than showy, which is exactly why it goes down so well.

Where it's from

Leleshwa is made at Morendat Farm in Naivasha, up in the Great Rift Valley, by the Kenya Nut Company. The vineyard sits around 2,000 metres above sea level, right on the equator, on volcanic soil. Plenty of people said grapes simply wouldn't grow there. It started as a weekend hobby in the '90s and now turns out tens of thousands of bottles a year. The name comes from the leleshwa shrub that grows wild around the vines. So yes, this is the real thing: a proper wine, grown and bottled in Kenya.
