Malfy is made by the Vergnano family at Torino Distillati in Moncalieri, up in Italy's Piedmont region, where they've been quietly distilling gin since the 1970s. The Rosa starts with sun-ripened Sicilian pink grapefruit, the peels steeped with Italian juniper in grain spirit for about 36 hours before distilling. The signature blush comes from a rhubarb distillate folded in afterwards, which also gives that tart edge you taste. It's a proper Italian take on gin, coastal and citrus-forward rather than cold and London-dry.
