Musgrave Gin 750ml-4%
Pour this and the first thing that hits you isn't the usual pine-fresh gin slap. It's spice. Warm cardamom, a peppery little kick, this woody, almost incense-y aroma that makes your G&T feel like an actual occasion. Musgrave Premium is the bottle you grab when you want your drink to have a bit of swagger. Slow-made in South Africa, big on African botanicals, smooth enough to sip neat. Tonight just got more interesting.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Nose first: woody and forest-like, with cardamom and African ginger doing the heavy lifting and juniper humming underneath. Then the sip. It's a gentle, peppery warmth, the kind that wakes your tongue up without the harsh bite of black pepper. Grains of paradise bring that exotic spice glow, cloves and a whisper of cinnamon roll through the middle, and a clean juniper-citrus base keeps the whole thing bright and balanced. It finishes long and warm, like a slow exhale. Dry, characterful, properly grown-up.

Where it's from

This one's the work of Simone Musgrave, a South African with a real soft spot for the unusual. She named the gin after her grandfather Maurice, an explorer, and you can taste the wanderlust in the bottle. Eleven rare botanicals, each one nodding to the ancient African Spice Route, slow-built using old-school potstill infusion rather than rushed for volume. Her motto says it all: 'hurry hurry has no blessing.' That patience is exactly why it tastes the way it does.

Warm and spice-forward. Think cardamom, African ginger and grains of paradise over a juniper-citrus base, with a gentle peppery warmth and hints of clove and cinnamon. Dry, smooth and full of character.

It's 43% alcohol by volume, in a 750ml bottle.

What pairs well with it?

Anything off the grill loves it. Nyama choma, grilled prawns, spiced samosas, pepper-crusted steak or a sharp aged cheddar all play nicely with the spice.

Where is Musgrave Premium Gin from?

South Africa. It's crafted by Simone Musgrave using slow potstill infusion and African botanicals inspired by the ancient Spice Route.

What makes Musgrave different from a regular gin?

Instead of leading with classic pine-y juniper, it leans into confident African spices like cardamom, African ginger and grains of paradise. It's slow-made by potstill infusion, so it drinks warm, peppery and aromatic rather than sharp.
