Pour this one slow. Green Dot is a Nairobi-made gin so juniper-forward it almost forgot to add anything else. It is earthy, woody, a little nutty, and properly good to just sip. Want it tonight? Build a Martini, or a G&T with a late-night plate of nyama choma. We will get it to your door fast, whatever the hour.
The nose is earthy and woody, delicate rather than loud, like walking into a pine forest after rain. Sip it and the juniper takes over in the best way: piney, savoury, with a warm nutty edge and a whisper of coconut and vanilla underneath. There is no citrus-and-coriander circus going on here. It is all juniper, all the time, and at 47% it has the weight to carry it. Long, dry, green finish that makes you want the next sip.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
This is Kenya's first craft distillery, started in Nairobi in 2018 by Guy Brennan and friends after a G&T moment: half the botanicals on an imported bottle grew right there in Africa, so why import the gin? The hero is Juniperus procera, the African juniper that only grows above 1,500m in the highlands and packs richer oils than the European stuff. Green Dot pushes that idea to the limit. It is built entirely from a single juniper tree, the berries, foliage and toasted wood. A world first, harvested a short drive from the still.

- What does Procera Green Dot Gin (2022 Vintage) 700ml taste like?
Earthy and woody on the nose, then full-on juniper on the palate: piney, savoury and nutty with a touch of coconut and vanilla. No citrus overload, just deep juniper character and a long dry finish.
- What is the ABV?
47%, so it has real backbone. That strength is part of why it holds up so well as a sipping gin.

Neat over ice, in a Martini, or a light G&T. Keep garnishes minimal and skip the lime so the juniper leads.
- What makes Green Dot different from other gins?
It is a world-first juniper-terroir gin, made entirely from one juniper tree using the berries, leaves and toasted wood. That is why it tastes so purely of juniper and nothing else.
- What pairs with it?
Grilled and smoky food loves it: nyama choma, prawns, smoked trout, salted nuts and sharp cheese.
- Where is it from?
Nairobi, Kenya, from Procera, the country's first craft distillery. It is built around Juniperus procera, the African juniper grown in the Kenyan highlands.
