1800 Anejo Reserva Tequila 700ml
This is the tequila you sip slow, not shoot. Pour a little into a glass and you get warm caramel, vanilla and toasted oak, smooth enough to drink neat while you wind down a long night. Golden amber in the glass, the kind of bottle that quietly makes you look like you know your stuff. Want it tonight? Say the word and we'll have it at your door, any hour.
First sniff is all caramel and roasted agave, with a soft almond-and-vanilla thing going on underneath. On the tongue it's properly smooth: vanilla and toffee up front, then dried fruit and a little baking-spice warmth that keeps it from being too sweet. The oak shows up as toasted, mellow, never sharp. Finish is long and easy, a gentle pepper warmth that hangs around after you swallow. This is a sipper, and it earns the slow pace.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
1800 comes out of La Rojeña in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, one of the oldest distilleries in Mexico. The name nods to 1800, said to be the year tequila first got properly aged in oak casks. The agave is 100% Weber Blue, harvested from the Tequila Valley and double-distilled in copper. What makes the Añejo stand out is the wood: it rests over a year in new French and American oak, where most añejos lean on old bourbon barrels. That's where all that caramel and vanilla comes from.

- What does 1800 Añejo Reserva Tequila 700ml taste like?
Smooth and on the sweeter, woody side. Caramel and vanilla up front, then dried fruit and a little spice, with a long, gently peppery finish. It's a sipping tequila, not a shooter.
- What is the ABV of 1800 Añejo Reserva?
It's 38% ABV. Easy to enjoy neat without it burning.
- How should I serve it?
Neat at room temperature in a small tumbler is best, or over one big ice cube. Save it from the margarita blender. If you want a cocktail, an Añejo Old Fashioned is the way.

Rich Mexican food like mole, grilled meat such as nyama choma, dark chocolate, and salted caramel desserts all work beautifully.
- Where is 1800 Añejo from?
Mexico. It's made at the La Rojeña distillery in Tequila, Jalisco, from 100% Weber Blue Agave.
- What makes an añejo different from a reposado?
Añejo means it's aged longer, at least a year in oak. This one rests over 14 months in French and American oak, which is why it's darker, smoother and more about caramel and vanilla than a younger, fresher reposado.
