Pour this and you get soft, juicy red wine with zero fuss. Ripe plum, a hit of sweet black cherry, and just enough oak to round it off. It's the bottomless-glass kind of red. The one you crack open on a Friday with the gang, top up a curious cousin, and still have plenty left for tomorrow's stew. No cork, no ceremony, just a tap on the side of the box. We'll have it at your door fast, whatever the hour.
First sniff is all ripe plum and dark cherry, like jammy summer fruit with a little woody warmth behind it. On the palate it's soft and rounded, more cuddle than punch. The black cherry sweetness carries through, the tannins are gentle so it never grips or dries you out, and that delicate touch of oak ties the finish into something smooth and velvety. Easy to sip on its own, generous enough to stand up to a plate of food.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
This comes from Robertson Winery, deep in South Africa's Robertson Valley out along the Breede River. Cool story: the place started back in 1941 when a couple of local farmers turned an old stone church into a winery, set up as a co-op where the growers all hold a share. It's still run that way today, with vineyards spread across the valley. The limestone-rich soils there are famous for producing soft, fruit-forward reds, which is exactly what you're tasting in the glass.
