Scavi and Ray Prosecco 75cl
You know that little psst when the cork eases out? That's the sound of the evening getting better. Scavi & Ray is pale gold, alive with tiny bubbles, and tastes like biting into a cold green apple with a squeeze of citrus. Extra Dry means it's just a touch off-dry, softer than a bone-dry Brut but still bright and lively, so it goes down far too easily. Birthday, Friday, or absolutely nothing at all. We'll have it at your door fast.
First thing that hits you is fresh fruit: crisp green apple and pear, a twist of lemon and lime, with little floral and minty top notes drifting over it. The bubbles are fine and persistent, more soft fizz than aggressive prickle, so it feels almost creamy across your tongue. Being Extra Dry, there's a gentle sweetness (around 17g of sugar per litre) that's balanced by a clean line of acidity, so it lands fresh rather than sugary. Finishes light, juicy, with a faint salty snap that makes you want the next sip.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
Cute backstory: Scavi & Ray was dreamed up by two ad men, Joe Scavi and Carluccio Ray, who ran an agency in 1960s New York, fell for a vineyard on a trip through Veneto, and decided to make their own Prosecco there. Today the brand is one of Italy's biggest names in the category. This bottle is a Prosecco DOC Spumante, made from Glera grapes grown in Veneto in northern Italy, fermented the Italian way (the Martinotti tank method) that traps those fine bubbles. Proper Italian, properly easy to love.
