Schweppes Tonic Can 330ml
Crack the can, pour it over a glass of ice, and listen to that fizz. This is the tonic that makes a gin taste like a proper G&T: a clean quinine bite riding on top of a light, easy sweetness, so it lifts your spirit instead of drowning it. Pour it solo over ice with a wedge of lemon and it's a grown-up no-booze refresher too. The 330ml can is your portable plan: pocket-sized, chills fast, no half-flat bottle going sad in the fridge.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

First thing you get is the fizz, sharp and lively. Then the quinine kicks in: that gentle, clean bitterness that's the whole point of tonic, with a faint woody, citrus-peel edge to it. Underneath sits a light sweetness that softens the bite so nothing feels harsh. It finishes dry and crisp, the bitterness lingering just long enough to leave your mouth ready for the next sip. That's exactly why it plays so well with gin: it doesn't fight the botanicals, it frames them.

Where it comes from

Here's the cool bit: Schweppes basically invented this category. Back in the 1870s they launched the first commercial tonic water with quinine, originally a way to make the bitter anti-malaria stuff palatable for the British out in the tropics, mixed with soda and a little sugar. Somewhere along the way someone added gin, and the rest is bar history. The brand itself goes all the way back to Johann Jacob Schweppe, who cracked carbonating water in 1783. This can is bottled right here in Kenya, so it's the genuine original, fresh and local.

Quick questions

What is the price of Schweppes Tonic Can 330ml?

Schweppes Tonic Can 330ml is KSh 135 at Oaks & Corks. Order online for fast delivery across Nairobi, usually within the hour, or next day countrywide.

What does Schweppes Tonic Water Can 330ml taste like?

Crisp and fizzy with a clean quinine bitterness over a light sweetness, plus a faint woody citrus note. It finishes dry, which is exactly why it makes gin sing.

What is the ABV of Schweppes Tonic Water?

Zero. It's a non-alcoholic mixer, no alcohol at all. The kick comes from whatever spirit you pour in.

How do I serve it?

Ice-cold over plenty of ice in a tall or balloon glass. Add gin (or vodka) and a wedge of lemon or lime, top with the can, give it one stir, and drink it fresh while it's lively.

What pairs with it in a drink?

Gin is the classic, that's the original G&T. It's also lovely with vodka, or solo over ice with citrus if you're skipping the booze.

Why is tonic water bitter?

That's the quinine, originally from cinchona bark. Schweppes was the first to bottle tonic with it back in the 1870s, and that signature bitterness is the whole point.

Where is it from?

It's Schweppes, the brand that invented tonic water, and this 330ml can is produced in Kenya.
