This comes out of Odessa, on Ukraine's Black Sea coast, from a name that goes back to 1863 when Nikolai Shustov started building one of the most famous brandy houses in the region. Cool bit of trivia: at the 1900 Paris World Exhibition the Shustovs took the Grand Prix, and the win earned them the rare right to call their drink cognac rather than brandy. The Odessa factory still runs a full cycle, vine to bottle, distilling and oak-ageing everything on site the way they do it in Cognac, France. The 4 Stars is blended from spirits aged at least four years, with older stock folded in for depth.
