Simonsig Rose 75cl
Exceptional★★★★★
Picture a glass the colour of a Nairobi sunset, all bright pink, smelling like someone just crushed a punnet of strawberries next to you. That's Simonsig Rosé. It's dry, not sweet, so it goes down clean and leaves you reaching for the next sip. Pour it cold on a hot evening, line up the nyama choma, and watch the bottle disappear faster than you planned.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

First hit is all red fruit: ripe strawberry and raspberry, a little melon, a soft floral lift like rose petals in the background. Take a sip and it stays fruity but never sugary, with a fresh zing of acidity keeping everything tight and lively. It finishes clean and dry, the kind of mouthwatering that makes you want another go. Easy to love, harder to put down.

Where it's from

This comes from Simonsig, a family winery in Stellenbosch, the heart of South Africa's wine country. The Malan family have been farming these slopes for generations and they're a properly big deal back home, the first South African producer to make a bottle-fermented sparkling wine in the Cap Classique style. The rosé leans on Pinotage, South Africa's own homegrown grape, which gives all that juicy red-berry character. Good pedigree, no fuss.
