The Beach House Sauvignon Blanc 75cl
Pour this cold and the whole glass smells like a fruit market on a hot day. Think passion fruit, ripe pineapple and a squeeze of lime, then a clean, dry finish that snaps you back and begs for the next sip. It's the white you grab when you want something bright and easy that still tastes like it knows what it's doing. Fish night, a lazy Friday, or just because it's half past wine, this one shows up ready.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

First whiff is all sunshine: passion fruit and pineapple up front, a little guava, then citrus zing and a green whisper of fresh grass underneath. On the palate it's juicy but light, lemon and lime doing the talking, gooseberry keeping it lively. The finish is dry and zesty, no sugar lingering, just a clean snap that leaves your mouth watering. Colour's a pale yellow with a faint green glint, exactly what you want from a young Sauvignon.

Where it's from

This comes from Douglas Green, part of DGB, one of South Africa's old hands going back to 1942. The whole idea behind the house has always been to blend the best of the Western Cape's different vineyards rather than lean on just one spot. The grapes here are pulled from the cooler Coastal Region, which is exactly what gives the wine that fresh, zippy edge. The Beach House name says it all: this is a sun-and-sea kind of white, built for relaxed days.
