Torres Coronas Tempranillo 2015 75cl
This is the red you pour when you want zero fuss and all flavour. Deep ruby, ripe black fruit, a smooth sweep of vanilla and spice from the oak, and tannins so rounded it just glides. It's savoury enough to stand up to grilled meat and easy enough to sip while the choma's still on the jiko. Spanish, classic, properly good. Say the word and we'll have it at your door.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Lead with the nose: ripe plum and blackberry, then that warm oak signature curling underneath, vanilla, a whisper of liquorice and baking spice. On the palate it's full and smooth, the fruit ripe and dark, with a savoury, almost truffly edge that keeps it grown-up rather than jammy. The tannins are there but soft, more velvet than grip, and it finishes long and warm. Dry, but generous with it. Nothing harsh, nothing to puzzle over.

Where it's from

This comes from Familia Torres, the family that's been making wine in Catalonia, northeast Spain, since 1870. Coronas is one of their classics, first registered back in 1907, built on Tempranillo (Spain's signature red grape) with a slice of Cabernet Sauvignon blended in for backbone, then aged in oak to round it all off. Five generations of the same family, still doing it. That's the kind of pedigree you can taste without paying a fortune for it.
