First thing you get is the lime. Fresh, zingy, like the squeeze that goes over street-roasted mahindi, sitting right on top of a clean golden lager. Underneath there's the classic Tusker barley malt, soft and a little bready, just enough to keep it from being a fizzy soda. It's light-bodied, gently bubbly, and the citrus carries it to a dry, refreshing finish with barely any bitterness. Easy to keep sipping without it ever feeling heavy.

This is pure Kenya. Tusker is brewed by Kenya Breweries under EABL in Nairobi, the same beer that's been the country's pride for a century. Ndimu means lime in Swahili, and the idea is sweetly local. Lime is what the corn seller squeezes over your mahindi, what goes into hot ginger dawa when you're feeling rough. So a hundred years after the first Tusker, they squeezed that same zest into the lager. Familiar beer, fresh twist, very Kenyan.
