Undurraga Pinot Noir Rose 750ml.
You want something pink, chilled and uncomplicated for tonight. This is it. Pour it cold and you get a wash of fresh strawberry and red berries, light on its feet, nothing heavy. It's the bottle you open on the balcony when the sun's going down, or hand round a table where everyone wants a little of everything. One sip and it just gets on with being lovely. We'll have it at your door fast, ice optional but encouraged.
Salmon pink in the glass, the kind of colour that already looks refreshing. The nose is all fresh red fruit, think strawberry and a hint of raspberry, clean and expressive. On the palate it's delicate and balanced, light-bodied with juicy red-berry flavour and a gentle lift of acidity that keeps it bright. Dry-ish and easygoing, no big tannin, nothing to overthink. Just pink, fruity and friendly.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
This comes from Viña Undurraga, one of Chile's grand old names, started back in 1885 by Don Francisco Undurraga who planted vines he carried over from Europe. Fun bit of trivia: in 1903 Undurraga became the first New World wine ever imported into the United States. Today they farm across Chile's best valleys, where cool Pacific breezes and coastal fog let Pinot Noir grapes ripen slowly and hold onto that fresh, fruity character. That's exactly what lands in this glass.
