It's fortified, so at 16% it carries a gentle warmth that makes it feel like a treat. Pour a small one, chill it down, and let it close out the night. We'll have it at your door fast, even when it's late.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Big, lush and unapologetically sweet. The nose is all musky Muscat grape, ripe red berries and a little whisper of spice. On the palate you get sun-dried fruit and raisins, a flash of Turkish delight and raspberry, and a thread of honey running underneath. There's just enough acidity to stop it feeling cloying, and the finish is velvety and goes on and on. A little goes a long way, which is exactly the point.

Where it's from

This comes from Van Loveren, a family cellar in the Robertson Valley in South Africa's Western Cape, run by the Retief family for generations. Robertson is hot, lime-rich country that's ideal for ripe, sweet grapes, and this one is made from Muscadel (the Muscat de Frontignan grape), fortified to lock in all that natural sweetness. Van Loveren built its name on approachable, honest South African wines, and this is a textbook example.
