Where it's from
This comes out of Van Ryn's, a brandy house in Stellenbosch, South Africa, whose roots run back to 1845 when Jan van Ryn set up shop at the Cape. They still distil in copper pot stills, one of them reportedly over 200 years old, which is part of why their brandy drinks so smooth. Viceroy itself launched in 1940 and has been a South African staple ever since, matured five years in oak before it ever reaches your glass.
