The nose leads with blueberry, blackcurrant and a hit of dark chocolate, with that classic Cab graphite-and-cigar-box edge underneath (think pencil shavings and a wooden box, in the best way). On the palate it's dark blackberry and plum, the oak folded right in from 18 months in French barrels. The tannins are firm but polished, so it grips your cheeks a little then lets go into a long, savoury finish. Dry as a bone, no sweetness.

The name is old Dutch for "seven expectations," a nod to the pleasures the estate promises.
