You know that first cold sip that just resets your whole evening? This is that. Alandra White is a bright, dry Portuguese white that smells like lemon zest and tastes light, fresh and properly thirst-quenching. Crack it open with grilled fish, a plate of nyama choma, or just on its own while you figure out dinner. The 375ml means it's a perfect solo bottle or an easy two-glass split, no half-finished litre judging you from the fridge tomorrow.
Pale citrine in the glass, almost lemony to look at. The nose is fresh and floral with white peach, a squeeze of citrus and a little orange peel. On the palate it's dry, light and clean. Think lemon and green-apple brightness, no oak getting in the way, just a juicy, balanced flavour that finishes crisp and tidy. It's youthful and uncomplicated in the best way. Easy to love, hard to overthink.
The details
Pairs well with
Where it's from
Alandra comes from Esporão, one of Portugal's most respected names, based in the sun-baked Alentejo region in the country's south. It's the easy-going, everyday wine in their range, blended from Portuguese white grapes Antão Vaz, Arinto and Perrum. Fun nugget: that Perrum grape is the same variety they call Pedro Ximénez over in Spain's Sherry country. The wine is cool-fermented and unoaked on purpose, so it keeps all that fresh, fruity character instead of hiding it behind wood.
