It's amber-gold in the glass and the nose pulls you straight in: dried apricot and fig, a little peach, then soft vanilla and oak underneath. The finish leans into oaky vanilla and fades slow and easy. Smooth, never sharp, never hot.

St-Rémy has been making brandy in France since 1886, when the house set up shop in Machecoul in the Loire Valley after phylloxera wrecked the old vineyards further south. The trick that makes it different from cognac: instead of one region, St-Rémy sources wines from vineyards all across France, a blend that can run from Chardonnay and Ugni Blanc to Merlot, Gamay and Syrah. Those wines are distilled into eaux-de-vie and matured in oak. The blend you're drinking is shaped by Master Blender Cécile Roudaut, who's been running the cellar since 2016. 100% French, start to finish.
