Chocoholic Pinotage 75cl. 2021
You know that moment after dinner when you want something that tastes a little like dessert but isn't sweet? This is that bottle. Chocoholic Pinotage leans into dark chocolate and ripe cherry, then keeps it dry and grown-up so it never tips into syrup. Pour it next to a plate of nyama choma on a slow night and watch it disappear. We deliver fast, any hour, so the only hard part is deciding what to put next to it.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

Big, warm and welcoming. The nose is all cocoa, vanilla and a sweet whiff of Turkish delight, with red and black cherry sitting underneath. On the palate you get that signature chocolate-and-coffee thing Pinotage does so well, plus red plum and a lick of butterscotch on the finish. It's medium to full bodied with smooth, supple tannins, so it feels rich and round without scraping your cheeks. Dry, balanced, and a touch decadent. Easy to love, hard to put down.

Where it's from

This comes from Darling Cellars, out in the town of Darling on South Africa's breezy West Coast. The vineyards sit on decomposed granite in the Darling Hills, just a few miles from the Atlantic, so cool sea air keeps the grapes fresh even as they ripen. Here's the clever bit: for about a tenth of the wine, they twist the grape stalks on the vine so the fruit half-raisins in the sun, concentrating all that sweet, dark intensity. Blend that with oak-aged Pinotage and you get the deep chocolate richness this bottle is named for.

What does Chocoholic Pinotage 2021 75cl taste like?
