This is Scotch with deep roots. The Dewar family loved one distillery's honeyed, fruity malt so much they built their own, Aberfeldy in Perthshire, back in 1896 to anchor the house style. That malt is still the heart of this blend, married with whisky from 40-odd other Scottish distilleries by master blender Stephanie Macleod. The twist that makes it Dewar's: after blending, it goes back into oak for an extra six months to 'marry'. That's the 'Double Aged' on the label, and it's why this thing drinks like silk.
