Pour this and the glass goes the colour of a Nairobi sunset, all soft sunset pink. One sip and it's strawberries and raspberries turned up loud, sweet but never sticky, with just enough zip to keep you coming back. It's light too, only 8%, so it's the bottle for a chilled evening when you want flavour without the heavy hand. Get it cold, get it open, thank us later.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

The nose hits first: fresh strawberries, a handful of raspberries, and a little whisper of rose petal and Turkish delight. On the tongue it's full-on ripe red berry, candied and juicy, the kind of sweet that actually tastes like fruit. But there's a clean streak of acidity underneath that stops it being syrupy, so it lands soft and moreish and just makes you want another mouthful. Easy to love, hard to put down.

Where it's from

Douglas Green is one of South Africa's best-known wine names, carrying the name of the man who started it back in 1939. This one comes from the sunny Cape, and the clever bit is how they keep it so light: they stop the fermentation early, before all the grape sugar turns to alcohol. That's why you get a wine that's only 8% but still bursting with natural sweetness and fruit. No tricks, just fruit caught at the right moment.

What is the price of Sunkissed Rose 75cl?

Sunkissed Rose 75cl is KSh 1,899 at Oaks & Corks. Order online for delivery in 30 minutes for most areas in Nairobi, or next day countrywide.

What does Sunkissed Natural Sweet Rosé 75cl taste like?

Think loud, juicy strawberries and raspberries with a hint of rose petal and Turkish delight. It's properly sweet but balanced by a clean streak of acidity, so it finishes soft and moreish rather than sticky.

What is the ABV?

It's 8%, nice and light. They stop the fermentation early so it stays low in alcohol while keeping all that natural fruit sweetness.

How do I serve it?

Well chilled, around 6 to 8°C. A couple of hours in the fridge or 20 minutes in an ice bucket. Drink it on its own, or stretch it into a spritz with soda over ice.

What pairs with it?

Lovely with parma ham and figs, light charcuterie, fresh fruit and fruity desserts. The sweetness also tames spicy food like chicken wings or a mild curry.

Where is it from?

South Africa, from the well-known Cape producer Douglas Green, a name that goes back to 1939.

Is it sweet or dry?

Sweet. It's a natural sweet rosé, full of ripe berry sweetness, though the acidity keeps it fresh rather than cloying.
