Gato Negro means black cat, and the name is real history. The story goes that a black cat became the lucky shadow of a winemaker at Viña San Pedro, and the crew swore the little guy watched over every vintage. The label stuck. San Pedro itself was founded back in 1865 in Chile's Curicó Valley and now ships to more than 80 countries. The grapes grow in the Central Valley, tucked between the Andes and the Pacific, a natural sun-trap that makes for clean, ripe fruit.
