This one started in a Cork pub. Dave Quinn, Jameson's head of whiskey science, was having a pint with Shane Long, the head brewer at the local Franciscan Well brewery, and they cooked up a swap. Jameson lends the brewery its whiskey casks to age craft beer in, then takes them back to finish the whiskey. The IPA Edition is the hoppy member of that Caskmates family, made the proper Irish way: triple-distilled at the Midleton distillery, then rested in those beer-seasoned barrels. Two old trades, one very good idea.
