Pours pale gold with a proper lively fizz. Nose is ripe apple and a hit of fresh lime zest, like someone just grated a peel over your glass. First sip is sweet pressed apple, then the lime cuts straight through it so nothing sits heavy on your tongue. Finishes clean and tart, dry-ish, and basically begs you to take another sip. No syrupy aftertaste, no fake sweetness.

Where it's from

This is Kenyan Originals, the cider arm of African Originals, who started back in 2016 out of a single shipping container in Nairobi before growing into a proper 28,000 sq ft facility. They chop, press and ferment real fruit in-house and work straight with smallholder farmers, the limes here come from Garissa. They take it seriously too: in 2025 they became the first gin and cider maker in Africa to earn B Corp status. Local, real, and quietly doing it right.
