Leopard's Leap comes out of Franschhoek, the gorgeous wine valley tucked into South Africa's Cape. It was started in 2000 by winemaker Hein Koegelenberg, the same hands behind the prestigious La Motte estate next door. The idea was simple: take serious Cape winemaking and make it friendly and unfussy, wine for actual tables and actual people. Cool bit: the brand backs the Cape Leopard Trust, helping protect the endangered Cape mountain leopard it's named for. Today's reds are crafted by winemaker Renier van Deventer.
