Get this seriously cold and it does something magic. That gorgeous salmon-pink colour, then a rush of cranberry and watermelon that's all fruit, zero sugar. It's bone dry and lively, the kind of pour that makes a hot Nairobi evening feel like a holiday. Perfect for the balcony at golden hour, brunch that runs long, or sundowners that don't want to end.
Tasting note · by The Oaks Cellar

First sip is a basket of red fruit. Cranberry, redcurrant, a juicy slice of watermelon, with a whisper of fresh strawberry on the nose. There's a savoury, almost minerally edge underneath that stops it ever tasting sweet (it's properly dry). It finishes clean and zippy thanks to the bright acidity, so your mouth waters for the next sip. Think of the freshness of a Sauvignon Blanc, dressed in pink.

Where it's from

Mulderbosch sits in Stellenbosch, South Africa, on a farm the locals once nicknamed the 'dirty little farm' before it got cleaned up into one of the Cape's most respected names. Here's the cool part: back in 1999 they launched one of the country's first proper rosés made on purpose. While everyone else was treating pink wine as a leftover from red production, Mulderbosch planted Cabernet Sauvignon vines farmed specifically for rosé, picked them early for that zing of acidity, then vinified the juice cool like a white wine. That intention is exactly why this tastes so fresh and deliberate.
